Who we are
Love on Locals is a registered charitable organization in Waco, Texas. We serve the poor and marginalized by creating jobs and finding jobs for those who are in need.
Though we have only existed as a 501(c)(3) since 2018 we have been doing the work of a nonprofit for many years. We desire to reach people for Jesus by discipling and mentoring them while laboring alongside them. This demographic of people that we are focusing on have unique situations that prevent them from being able to find and keep jobs.
Though we will not discriminate against anyone working with us, we intentionally focus on hiring those who are homeless, disabled, in severe poverty or have few other options for employment due to criminal records and other circumstances related to their past.
Meet the McWhorters
We are the McWhorter family. We founded the nonprofit Love on Locals in 2018 after ministering to the poor for over 10 years. We have served as vocational ministers in 4 different nations since 2008. Travis is a 5th generation Wacoan who has a heart to reach the poor by sharing the message of the Gospel while also showing practical acts of service. Laura has experience in teaching, social work and cross cultural ministry. Together they are raising their 4 children and reaching out to their community.
